Dr. Tafur is available for speaking engagements. He speaks at conferences across the globe, sharing the ideas presented in his first book The Fellowship of the River, discussing the importance of psychoneuroimmunology and emotional biology in modern medicine, the role of spiritual healing in modern healthcare, the potential role of epigenetics in psychedelic-assisted therapies, and his experience with Traditional Amazonian Plant Medicine and Ayahuasca curanderismo. Dr. Tafur also released his new book in 2025 Medicine Song and is also presenting on topics presented in this work, including to role of spiritual healing in the Psychedelic Renaissance, bridging science and spirituality, ancestral wisdom and the Prophecy of the Eagle and the Condor. The Potential Role of Epigenetics in Ayahuasca Shamanism. Presentation of “The Fellowship of the River” at the Multidisciplinary Association of Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) conference in 2017. In summary, by attempting to bridge empirical experience in shamanism and western medical research, the presentation attempts to demonstrate that the potential benefit of ayahuasca shamanism and other psychedelic-assisted therapies may be in part due to their ability to induce relevant changes in epigenetic imprints associated with emotional trauma stored in the psychoneuroendocrine immunologic network.
